Rooted in Family, Driven by Purpose
I grew up in a middle-class, single-parent Puerto Rican household where family wasn’t just important—it was everything. Family, respect, and togetherness shaped who I am and continue to guide how I show up in the world today.
Every Sunday, we packed up for outings to places like Mohansic State Park (now FDR State Park), Blue Mountain, or the Seven Lakes. Holidays were spent crowded into a relative’s home, filled with music, dancing, incredible food, and memories that still make me smile. Cousins went to school together, vacationed together—we didn’t just spend time together; we grew up as one.
Respect for elders was non-negotiable. A single look from my mom could straighten me out instantly. That early lesson in discipline, humility, and accountability has stayed with me, shaping how I lead and how I build relationships professionally.
Because of my upbringing, navigating hierarchy and personal relationships in business feels natural. I deeply value respect—addressing people properly, honoring experience, and maintaining professionalism. At the same time, I believe meaningful work happens when genuine human connection comes first. Trust and collaboration grow when people feel seen and valued beyond titles and transactions.
I’ve also learned that this approach can sometimes be misunderstood. In environments where assertiveness is prized, thoughtfulness and deference are occasionally mistaken for passivity. But I was raised to observe, speak with intention, and lead with humility. Over time, I’ve learned how to stay true to these values while still ensuring my voice is heard and respected.
My mother worked tirelessly, often juggling two jobs to give me the best education she could. She has always been my rock and my role model. I was raised by strong, independent, self-taught women who showed me what resilience truly looks like. I’ve seen struggle and poverty firsthand—but I’ve also witnessed how perseverance, belief, and opportunity can create real growth and success.
That foundation is the heart of my work today: helping others rise, just as I was lifted up.
That’s why I started BluRayne.
Named after my daughter—my daily inspiration—BluRayne exists to support startups and small to mid-sized businesses that dream big but may not always have access to the resources, guidance, or support they need. As a single mom, I carry forward my mother’s values while striving to create even greater opportunities for my daughter.
In a world that often feels divided and uncertain, I still believe there is so much good. BluRayne is my way of contributing to that good—by leading with purpose, compassion, and a belief in what’s possible when people are truly supported.
